The TEXAS PREMIER SOCCER SHOWCASE will be held at Craig Ranch, a premier venue in the south, July 11-13, 2008. This invitation-only event will provide college-bound players the chance to showcase their talents and skills for some of the top collegiate coaches in the country.  48, U16 through U18 Boys' & Girls' Teams, combined with quality teams from all over the South and Midwest, will showcase their talents in a great environment for players.

The TEXAS PREMIER SOCCER SHOWCASE will serve as a great tool for college prospects to be seen and recruited by college coaches. Over 150 coaches from all levels will be invited to participate in this premier event.

Lexi Stinson, goalkeeper for the 92 Girls White team, had a standout Freshman campaign for the Birdville Lady Hawks Varsity soccer program.  As a Freshman starter on varsity, Lexi posted a 23-3-4 record in goal with a 0.4
GAA.  Her 21.5 shutouts is a new UIL Girl's State record for a season.  In addition to rewriting the record book, Lexi earned awards as the High School Sports, The Magazine Female Goalkeeper of the year, District 5-4A Newcomer of the Year, and Academic 1st Team All-District

Shea Salinas and Bruno Guarda.
Well Done, Guys!

Shea Salinas was selected in the second round  of the MLS SuperDraft. The  Furman midfielder was selected by San Jose as the 15th overall pick. Shea was also named to the 2007 NSCAA/Adidas Men's Scholar All-American First Team. Shea played for the Tornados Men’s PDL team for two years.  
 

SMU Standout midfielder Bruno Guarda  capped off a stellar 2007 season by being named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Midwest Region First team. He’s also been named UMBRO/DallasSoccerNews.com Men’s College Player of the Year.  Bruno has played for the Tornados Men’s PDL team for 3 years.

 

 

 
 

The 90 Girls White team has had a very successful Fall 2007 season. They are currently 22-5-7 on the year.  The girls White team qualified for the Lake Highlands league and are currently in second place in Division III after the Fall season with a league record of 4-2-4.  They went 4-0 and were crowned champions of the Dr. Pepper Fair Play tournament. They went 3-0-1 and were champions of the North Texas Strikers tournament, beating the North Texas Strikers team 2-1 in the finals. They went 3-0 in the Sport Source Junior Senior Showcase, had the most points and were crowned champions of that tournament also.  They were 2-1-1 in the Sting Texas Cup and made the quarterfinals when rain washed out the rest of the tournament. 

In addition, of the 17 girls on the team 11 of the girls have committed to play college soccer.  Details of where they are going can be found by clicking on the College Alumni tab on this page of the website.  The other six players will be attending college but not competing in soccer.

 Jay Needham and Daniel Woolard!!
The DFW Tornados Semi-Professional men’s PDL team sent 7 players to the United Soccer League (USL) Professional Combine. The Tornados had the most players invited to the combine of any of the 62 Premier Development League (PDL) teams in North America!

Head Coach Paul Robinson and owner Jim Mertz are very excited that the Tornados are able to provide the opportunity for their players to play professional soccer.

Jay Needham and Daniel Woolard are two of our players who took advantage of this opportunity. Both are heading to Major League Soccer (MLS) teams. Needham has been drafted by D.C. United and Woolard has been drafted by Chicago Fire.
 

DFW Tornados —SMU defender JAY NEEDHAM (Ft. Worth, Texas) was selected sixth in the third round of the 2007 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, which was held Friday in Indianapolis, Indiana. DC United selected Needham, who was the 32nd pick overall.

     
DFW Tornados — MSU defender DANIEL WOOLARD (Bedford, Texas) has been selected 47th in the 2007 Major League supplemental Soccer Draft.

The DFW Tornados 89 and 92 Girls White team coach, David Hoffmann has been Named Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year by the Association of Division 3 independents (AD3I)!!!
David Hoffmann, who is the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at the University of Dallas (UD), joined his athletes in being recognized by the AD3I as Coach of the Year.  Hoffmann led the team to a school record in wins, an impressive 15-2-2 season, his fourth at the UD.  Since his arrival from Schreiner University prior to the 2003 season, Hoffmann has compiled a 39-25-4 coaching record, good for a .602 percentage. Better yet is his record after his first recruiting class when juniors Mike Hasson, Jered Lee and Rob Burton to name a few joined UD. Since then he has gone 36-12-3 for a .705 winning percentage.
Hoffmann is assisted by another DFW Tornados coach, Brian Byrd, who coaches the 93 Girls White team.
The Association of Division III Independents consists of 25 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in nine sports in 2006-07.
The 89’s Girls Blue team has had a very successful Fall 2006 season. They are currently 17-6-3 on the year and will complete their season in the Sport Source Showcase Tournament, December 1-3, in Plano, Texas. They are Champions of the U-19 Plano Premier Division, Co-Champions of the U-19 Division of the Dr. Pepper Fair Play Tournament, and they just recently were crowned Champions of the Sting Texas Cup U-19 Gold Division going 6-0-0 for the tournament.

  The DFW Tornados 89 Girls White Team compiled a 3 – 0 – 2 record to win the
 U-19 Girls Division in the 2006 Plano Labor Day Invitational.

Gotsoccer currently ranks the 89 Girls White at #3 in the state,
 #16 in the region and #90 in the nation!!

Congratulations to the 92 Girls White Team and Coach on being
selected to represent North Texas in Tampa, FL at the Region III
President's Cup Tournament again this June 8-10!

   

In the past 18 months the team has enjoyed successes. National Soccer Ranking (NSR) has ranked the team 12th in the state while GotSoccer ranked the girls as high as the top 5. They currently rank 7th in the state and in the top 50 regionally.

 

Ashley Moore and Kelly Riley have been selected as First Alternates with NTX ODP and will be returning to work out with the State Team in the Fall.

Aaron Tucker, captain of the 88 Boys White team, has been nominated by the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) as one of the top 34 High School players in the nation on the 2005 NSCAA/adidas Boys High School Scholar All-America Team. To be selected to the team, players must be seniors who have a minimum 3.75 cumulative grade point average and have exhibited excellence in high school soccer.

     
 

The committee evaluates the players’ academic and athletic information as well as involvement with their communities. The 34 honorees will be invited to the NSCAA All-America Luncheon, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, as part of the 2006 NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia, Pa.

Adam Lunger, who played on the 87 Boys White team, broke the UD Men’ Soccer record for points in a career with his first-half goal in Tuesday’s game against Howard Payne University. Just over 23 minutes into the game, the Keller native’s record tying goal gave him 127 points in his 3-year career. Lunger shared the mark with Kyle Francis for just over three and a half minutes before breaking the record. At that time, he provided the assist on Ryan Meske’s goal. Earlier in the month, Lunger scored his 52nd career goal to break the record held by Kyle Francis. He now has 55 career goals and 18 assists for 128 points. (10/07)

 University of Dallas junior forward Adam Lunger (Keller, Texas) is this week’s Association of Division III Independents men’s soccer Player of the Week. In two victories for the 6-0-1 Crusaders, Lunger scored six goals and added a pair of assists. He netted four goals in an 11-0 win over Gallaudet University and added two goals and two assists in a 5-1 victory over Bridgewater College. (9/2007)
 

 

Adam Lunger, who played on the 87 Boys White team, has been named AD3I Student-Athlete of the Year for 2006-07!!

Lunger, a sophomore pre-med major (3.08 grade-point average) from Keller, TX, led the University of Dallas team in goals scored (25) and points (56).  He also tied for the team high in assists with six.  At season’s end, Lunger was chosen as the team Co-MVP and was named the AD3I’s Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Year.  He also was selected to the AD3I’s All-Independent First Team and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association’s All-America First Team.  Lunger’s offensive prowess helped lead the team to high rankings throughout the year in the NCAA, NSCAA/Adidas Coach's, and D3Kicks.com polls.

  Adam Lunger wrapped up a successful campaign on the soccer field by being named as the Association of Division 3 Independents’ Co-Offensive Player of the Year. The sophomore forward showed no signs of a sophomore slump as he led the University of Dallas Crusaders in scoring for the second straight year. The Keller, Texas native had 56 points on 25 goals and 6 assists. With the 25-goal season, Lunger established a new school record for goals in a season. He scored the game-winning goal in 7 of UD Crusaders record setting 15 wins. He also finished with a .291 shot percentage and a .628 shots on goal percentage. In 2 impressive years he has 94 points, 40 goals, 14 assists and 11 game winning goals in 35 games.

  Adam Lunger, who played on the 87 Boys White team, and Jered Lee, who played on the 86 Boys White team were named to the Association of Division 3 Independents All-Independent First Team. Lunger led the team in all of the major scoring categories with 56 points on 25 goals and 6 assists. The Keller, Texas native started all 19 games and had 7 game-winning goals in these contests. For his efforts Lunger was also named as the AD3I’s Offensive Player of the Year.
   
  Adam Lunger, who played on the 87 Boys White team is this week’s Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. Lunger is a Sophomore at the University of Dallas. Adam led his team to two big wins last week against Southwestern Assemblies of God University and Austin College. Lunger scored 1 goal against SAGU and then broke out for 2 more and an assist, including the winning goal in overtime as Dallas defeated Austin 4-3.
   
  Jered Lee, Sophomore defender at the University of Dallas earned USCAA 1st Team All-American honors for the 2005 season while starting every game for the Crusaders.  Jered led the UD defense which allowed 0.69 GPG,  only 77 SOG, and notched 9 shut outs while going 11-4-1.  Furthermore the Lee led defense did not allow a single goal at home, and no opponent scored more than twice as the team allowed 11 goals for the year.  The UD men for the first time garnered votes in the NSCAA Coach's Poll.  Jered was an 86 BW player under Mick Tiiman.
   
  Adam Lunger, Freshman forward at the University of Dallas earned USCAA 1st Team All-American honors for the 2005 season.  Lunger led the #6 offense in the NCAA notching 15 goals and 8 assists in 16 matches.  Lunger finished in the top 20 for both goals and points in the NCAA.  His 38 points represents the third highest single season points total in University of Dallas history.  The UD men garnered votes in the NSCAA Coach's Poll for the first time.  Adam was an 87 BW player under Scott Kerlin.
   
  Two of last years 87 Girls White team are participating in the NCAA Division I tournament. Congratulations and best wishes go to Jill Watts at University of North Texas (Sunbelt Conference Champions) and Tina Ybarra at Mississippi Valley State (SWAC Conference Champions).
   
  Two other DFW Tornados 87 Girls White players, Sabrina Perriman and Sara Dvorak, represented Midwestern State (NCAA Division II) as they lost in the Lone Star Conference Final 1-0.
